Winter

I’m not one of those people who thinks all snow is beautiful. It has moments, but snow’s tendency to create dangerous conditions on roads and sidewalks, create drifts that I have to fight my way through, and land in uncomfortable places means that those moments are few and far between.

One such moment happened recently. It had been cloudy and grey for days when, finally, the sun came out. I looked out my window and saw that some of the trees were shining. The sun had only recently risen, and the trees were coated with what looked like ice. It was also dangerously cold, so there was no way I would be going outside to take pictures. I found the best window and took a picture from there. I had to bend my legs to be at the right angle to get the shot.

I live in an apartment building, so later, when I went to check mail, I took my camera with me and glanced out the hallway windows to see if there were any good views. There’s a window at the end of the hallway my apartment opens onto, and I found one such view at that window. There are a lot of mountains near me, and I could see one of them from where I stood. This one, the best angle was much easier to find and stay in while I took the shot.
